Monster Magnet's first release was a self-titled six-song EP released by Germany's Glitterhouse Records in 1990; it remains a highly prized collector's item in America. Although the band's sound is at its feedback-drenched rawest, one can already appreciate leader Dave Wyndorf's penchant for great hooks, as on "Freak Shop USA" and "Lizard Johnny." The disc also contains early versions of "Nod Scene" and "Snake Dance," which would resurface on their first domestic release, Spine of God, and "Tractor," which was re-recorded for their commercial breakthrough, Powertrip. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, Rovi@
