Icaros is a perfect example of a well-done, yet less technical, Meshuggah album mixed with classical Swedish Melodic Death Metal with the addition of several keyboard passages. I know the band is from Finland. But I find it weird that a Finnish band is playing regular Swedish MDM.
Obviously, this album is the one with the better production, the clearest quality. The riffs are a mix of chuggah-chuggah-like riffs mixed with aggressive and punchy Gotenburg riffs. The vocals resemble the ones of the singer of Meshuggah merged with Evergrey, but with no screaming. The singer is actually singing very loudly, but not growling/screaming. The drums are highly technical, with the feet connected to guitar riffs always.
Recommended for fans of Melodic Death Metal with clean vocals.
